Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer with a proven history of developing FEED packages for chemicals, upstream O&G or RNG plants, to lead the development and scale up of our innovative chemical manufacturing process for Gas-to-methanol conversion. 

As the Sr. Process Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the execution of pilot and demonstration projects, leading process scale up efforts, providing expert guidance on difficult technical challenges, and driving our efforts to meet aggressive technical milestones and customer requirements. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in the development and commercialization of a transformative, cost-effective chemicals production technology.

Role Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Lead the development of our First-Of-A-Kind (FOAK) commercial system
  • Provide technical leadership on process engineering deliverables such as process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), heat and material balances, and equipment specifications
  • Perform and review process simulations using tools like Aspen HYSYS
  • Guide hazard identification and process safety reviews (HAZOP, PHA)
  • Collaborate with EPC vendors to support FEED and to define detailed design specifications for components and overall system
  • Manage relationships with vendors, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure timely execution of project deliverables
  • Assist with process safety studies, including HAZOP and risk management
  • Support the full lifecycle of a FOAK (First of a Kind) system, ensuring it meets both performance and safety standards from the initial factory acceptance test (FAT) through commissioning, to site acceptance test and initial field start-up activities
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements, as well as internal quality standards and best practices
  • Develop and maintain documentation on standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work across disciplines to translate process requirements into practical solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable writing documentation and communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of process engineering experience; O&G and RNG (upstream, midstream, or downstream) highly preferred 
  • Experience with process intensification and scale up, especially with modular or skid-mounted technologies
  • Solid understanding of hydrocarbon processing, gas treating, separation systems, and/or refining
  • Proficiency in process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, PRO/II)
  • Field experience in new equipment/plant commissioning and start up
  • Knowledge of process automation, or advanced process control (APC) is a plus
  • Strong safety mindset and experience with industrial safety within the context of PHAs and HAZOPs
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, project management and communication skills
  • Ability to work in fast pace environments and remote field locations as required

Location, Travel & Work Authorization

  • This is a full-time, on-site role based at our Woburn, MA facility. We are seeking candidates who can work in person as part of a highly collaborative, hands-on engineering team. While the role is primarily office and lab-based, periodic travel is expected to support commissioning and troubleshooting activities at partner and pilot plant sites.
