Job Description

The HR Generalist assists with accurate and timely biweekly payroll processing: reviews and corrects time entries, submits adjustments to the payroll administrator, and approves payroll. Serves as occasional backup for payroll processing.

Responsibilities

  • Manages time clock systems: configures new employee biometric profiles, updates schedules, and oversees PTO tracking.
  • Generates HR reports using various software platforms.
  • Drafts and disseminates internal communications via HRIS, email, and messaging applications.
  • Executes full-cycle recruitment: posts job ads, coordinates with recruiters and agencies, screens candidates, administers assessments, and conducts phone interviews.
  • Represents the company at job and career fairs; builds partnerships with local colleges, technical schools, and their faculty.
  • May participate in advisory boards and panel events.
  • Extends verbal and written job offers; provides pre-employment documentation and coordinates post-offer screenings.
  • Coordinates new hire onboarding: arranges workspaces, IT access, and schedules orientation sessions; facilitates HR orientation and OJT arrangements.
  • Trains new hires on HRIS and timekeeping systems.
  • Reviews and approves timesheets for temporary employees; liaises with staffing agencies.
  • Reconciles invoices from recruiters and staffing agencies.
  • Organizes annual benefits open enrollment and monthly benefits enrollment sessions; responds to employee benefits questions.
  • Reconciles monthly insurance invoices for accuracy and completeness.
  • Administers the 401(k) plan and participates in the annual audit process.
  • Assists supervisors in managing employee relations, addressing performance issues, and facilitating disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Partners with department managers to coordinate annual performance evaluations.
  • Plans and facilitates internal and external training sessions.
  • Oversees workplace safety program, including audiometric testing, GHS updates, emergency drills, OSHA compliance, and PPE usage; serves on the safety committee.
  • Works with the Director of HR to address complex employee relations issues; conducts investigations and addresses complaints in a timely manner.
  • Manages employee recognition initiatives and events.
  • Responds to employment verifications, reference checks, and unemployment claims.
  • Manages offboarding procedures: initiates separation in HRIS, conducts exit interviews, and prepares separation/severance documentation.
  • Maintains comprehensive HR records, including personnel files, disciplinary actions, FMLA, OSHA logs, and workers’ compensation claims.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by the CEO, Director of HR and other members of the executive team.
  • Supervises and provides guidance to the HR Assistant/Receptionist.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field; supplemented by five or more years’ human resources administration and personnel recruiting experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
  • SHRM-PHR or SHRM-SPHR preferred.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, and HR systems.
  • Understanding of employment laws at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820 standards preferred (training provided).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (UKG Pro and UKG Workforce Management strongly preferred).
  • Experience with performance management software (Quantum Workplace preferred).
  • Strong critical thinking skills for problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
