Job Description

As the Food Safety Specialist you will ensure food products meet food safety and organic compliance where applicable. Achieve and maintain regulatory compliance in all required areas. Support the Food Safety and Quality Manager in risk reduction and prevention where needed.

Schedule : Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Location: Ephrata, PA (onsite)

  • Lead and manage the Food Safety and Organic Certification audit processes.
  • Gather information, produce and maintain all food safety reports and relevant documents.
  • Stay current with food safety requirements in the produce industry and advise management of necessary changes and trends.
  • Work closely with the Food Safety and Quality Manager and members of the management team to address and correct Food Safety deficiencies.
  • Train and communicate to associates all food safety requirements and conduct a yearly mock Product Recall.
  • Collaborate with the Sanitation to ensure the Master Cleaning Schedule is properly maintained and current.
  • Coordinate and monitor all necessary reports and information gathering from managers and associates.
  • Audit and manage the Pest Control activities and service.
  • As part of the management team set a consistent example in leadership style, communication and integrity.

What you bring

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Ideally, a bachelor's degree in business or some college coursework in related subjects
  • Ideally, 2 years of experience in Food Safety
  • Ideally, 1 year management experience
  • Substantial knowledge of food safety certification process and programs
  • Proficient Computer Skills
  • Adequate interpersonal, collaborative and organizational skills
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate responsibility and make sound decisions
  • Proficient customer service skills
  • Ideally, previous continuous improvement project experience
