An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide communication support in a K-12 educational setting. This contract position offers a chance to work directly with students, educators, and staff to facilitate effective communication and promote an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support personnel to accommodate students communication needs
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and school policies
• Stay current with interpreting techniques and participate in ongoing professional development
• Provide clear and accurate interpretation to support academic and social interactions

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting experience in educational settings preferred
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication strategies
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Previous experience in K-12 school environments is a plus
• Relevant certifications in sign language interpreting are highly desirable
